A full weekend of racing was in store at South Tyneside Gala on 28/29 May. Always a well organized event with some great competition from some of the larger clubs in our area, it shaped up to be a great weekend for Tynedale swimmers. PB’s were nabbed in 40 of the 45 races Tynedale took part in! Some amazing races (and dodgy maths ah hem in some of the longer events). Race highlights: Robin in 100BR and 200BR (racing against much older swimmers – he showed up and raced hard). Olive in 100BR – what a race! Daniel took Gold in 50BR. Gwen – may or may not have lost count of her lengths in the 400Free – she was out front, had a “rest” at the wall, the whole crowd gasped and she then sprinted the last 50 for the heat win and a PB – silver for a gutsy, crowd pleaser of a race! Rowan – great race in the 50Free-well paced and all the leg kicks! Chloe in 400Free-really well paced and lovely long stroke. Niamh in 200Free (always exciting to watch Niamh race). Love the pic attached of Adam and Ralph who medalled in their respective 400Free races. The girl gang of Jessica, Ella, Sophia, Megan and Violet – did so well in one of their first big galas outside of Hexham! Their age group of 10-12 year old girls has fierce competition from Sunderland and Newcastle and the Tynedale girls took home some medals which they worked really hard for! Erin, Tabby and Rachel all grabbed PB’s in the wicked competitive older girls age groups. Jamie also raced brilliantly and medalled and we didn’t lose him at this gala! Great stuff team!
